Vice President Debate

Posted by: admin   in Straight Talk

Well I thought the VP debate was interesting to watch. I made the comment to my wife that it sometimes feels like I am sitting in a Job Interview. Oh wait isn’t that what it is supposed to be?

Actually my comment is not really directed towards the debate but more to the media spin filter. I like the fact that the debate is contested without commentary from the so called experts. I am totally disgusted at the lack of partiality shown by the major broadcasters particularly ABC. Frankly I find it pompous and arrogant of them, the way they phrase questions in a way that casts doubt over Palin and exemplifies the strengths of Biden. The way they filter information in their commentaries is so blatently obvious. If they were truley classy reporters they would report the facts, free from their interpretation based upon their predisposed paradigms and world views.

Ok case in point Catie’s first comments were, “Well everyone was waiting to see how the political newcomer would do tonight and perhaps the headline is governer Sarah Palin did not embarrass herself or her running mate as some Republicans might have feared and some Democrates might have hoped.”

Reality Check -

1. Political Newcomer – Well maybe it is just me or maybe Alaska too but one does not get to become governor and be a Political Newcomer.

2. Did not embarrass herself – Ok why the negative expectation. Her History seems very good. I think it would be nice if they would treat the political candidates with the same level of enthusiasm and respect.

3. some Republicans might have feared and some Democrates might have hoped – I am not even going to comment on this.
P.S – Ironic the way the media all tout Bidens’ history of working in Washington and yet the big call of the democratic party is Change. Ironic how the newface in Washington who has an actual record of leadership and who wants to bring change is called inexperienced and a potential embarressment.

I think this is just typical of how the media portrays republicans. I was watching CNN last night and they had somebody who was supposed to be representing the republican side and somebody who was representing democrats. The guy they chose as a republican representative did a lousy job and seemed embarrassed to be representing McCain. He was terrible. I would love to see someone who isn’t lukewarm represent the republican side. Someone who is on fire and excited about this election. I am certainly voting for McCain and I’m not afraid to say it. I’m excited about him and I think he’ll make a fine president.
